Abstract

Disney is a part of everyone’s childhood; Disney stories seems to be the shared memory without boundaries. Is this consistency a solely result of the influence of culture icon or something more? Something like a oligopoly company that spend 2.8 billion dollars on advertising, selling their products in the name of “dreams come true,” keep emphasizing company’s legacy until everyone choose their product without thinking about alternatives, go to their theme parks as a family tradition, a habit. On all accounts, Disney Company is undoubtfully a representative conglomerate that grows steps by steps starting with a mouse.

  1. Why is Walt Disney an American cultural icon?

  2. What strategies does the Disney corporation use to be a successful media company?

  3. What are the marketing strategies used in Disney theme park around the world?

  4. What social controversies are in Disney production?

  5. What is oligopoly?

About Me

I am Wantong Zhong, a student of class of 2019 in Wakefield School. When I came to this foreign country I developed strong interest in economics, sociology and humanities. As I travel around the world and visit companies, I realize the unique power of conglomerate given by the economic system and current society. Disney Company is a case that can answer all my inquiry into oligopoly market. I researched on the positive and negative side of the company: their reasons of success, expansion and development and social controversies. I enjoy this process of learning and sharing throughout the year, and I am driven to go to business school in future.
